Amazon AI Portraits
I always love when an opportunity arises to learn about something outside of my industry. This series of portraits was commissioned by a team at Amazon to celebrate key contributors to the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including Alan Turing, Ingrid Daubechies, Geoffrey Hinton, Maria Petrou, Marvin Minsky, and John McCarthy.
I wanted to keep each of these simple in terms of the style, and after experimenting with different color options, I decided to go with a vibrant color scheme so that each portrait would pop and compete for the viewer’s attention.
These were all created digitally on my iPad, and I used an online vendor to print. I also designed a series of placards to hang below each portrait with additional information about each scientist and their contributions to the field. The portraits are currently displayed in a building on the Amazon campus.
